it is important to report claims in a timely manner! most mortality policies require notice immediately if your horse is sick or injured. your insurance carrier can best respond to your claim and assist you with any other parties involved when they are notified of a problem right away. and, if you wait too long, your claim might not be covered at all. if you have questions about filing claims, please feel free to contact us or your carrier!

horse owners with mortality policies may also want to notify barn staff about their horse's insurance. if barn staff cannot contact you and your horse suffers an illness, injury, or death, then they can contact your carrier for instructions on how to proceed. in some instances, the carrier may want to send another vet to evaluate the horse or conduct a necropsy after death. unknowing barn staff may not follow these procedures, which could impact your coverage. please feel free to post this flyer in your barn where staff can see it and provide it to anyone caring for your horse.
